Description: The RPG-30, dubbed Kryuk or 'Merciless' in English, is a rocket propelled grenade (RPG) launcher designed to take out the most modern main battle tanks. The RPG-30 is a man portable, disposable weapon with a single shot capacity. The weapon utilizes the PG-30 105mm round to neutralize tanks protected by reactive armor and active protection systems (APS). The PG-30 round features a tandem-shaped charge with a piercing in armor capability of 600 mm and a maximum range of 200 meters. Russia unveiled the new RPG-30 at the Russian Arms Expo (RAE) exhibition in September 2015. It entered service presumably in the 2012-2013 timeframe and has not been cleared for the export market yet.
The RPG-30 grenade launcher fires a smaller diameter precursor in a side tube shortly before the main round is fired to serve as a decoy against active protection systems (APS). The APS defenses are busy engaging the decoy paving the way to the main round to hit the protected tank. APS needs 0.2-0.4 seconds to engage a new incoming target after neutralizing the first one. The tandem shaped charge warhead defeats reactive armor protected tanks. The RPG-30's PG-30 105mm projectile is almost identical to the one used on the RPG-29. The Russian Armed Forces have deployed the RPG-30 along with the RPG-22 and RPG-26.
