Description: The SR-3, also known as Vikhr, is a 9x39mm assault rifle specially designed to neutralize manpower protected by body armor or light armored vehicles at ranges of up to 200 meters. For that purpose the SR-3 assault rifle fires subsonic SP-5 and SP-6 armor piercing ammunition. The basic version known as SR-3 was introduced with the Russian Federal Security Service in 1996. The upgraded SR.3M features increased range of up to 400 meters, improved furniture, several detachable sights, folding butt, removable silencer and better ergonomics as well as 30-, 20- and 10-round magazines. The SR3M has been fielded by modern Russian special operations forces.
