Description: The Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier has been designed to carry up to 40 aircraft between E-2C, Super Etendard, Rafale M, AS565 and NH90. The Senit combat system provides the ship with the capability to track up to 2,000 targets. The SAAM comprising the ASTER 15 missile and the Arabel fire control radar is the main self-defense system against airborne attacks. The ship is powered by two K15 pressurized water nuclear reactors.

The Charles de Gaulle nuclear aircraft carrier features reduced radar cross section (stealth), integrated weapon systems and sensors, and hardened structures for improved survivability against weapon impact. Employing its aircraft the Charles de Gaulle will be able to perform land attack, nuclear deterrent and anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare missions. In addition, this ship will act as the cornerstone of the French naval forces.
