The LSD 49 Harpers Ferry class Dock Landing Ships have been designed to provide support for amphibious operations onto enemy shores.
The Harpers Ferry class ships can transport LCAC, LCU, and helicopters for amphibious assault operations. In addition, they can perform cargo missions.
