Description: The J-12 is a Chinese fifth generation, stealth fighter being developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation (SAC) for the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). The new fighter aircraft may enter service by 2020 replacing obsolete aircraft within PLAAF. It has been reported as both a single-engine, single-seat fighter similar to the F-35 Lightning II and twin-engine, twin-seat fighter like the US F-22 Raptor. The XXJ designation refers to the twin-engine J-12 and was intended to enter service by 2015. As of September 2012, China seems to have developed a twin-engine lightweight fighter jet called the J-31/F-60 which may signal the cancellation of the single engine J-12 stealth aircraft.
