Description: The Irkut Corporation/Yakovlev Yak-152 is a twin-seat, turboprop aircraft designed to serve as primary/basic training airplane for the Russian Air Force. Russia's Irkut Corporation and Yakovlev and China's Hongdu Aviation Industry Group have been working together on the new trainer since 2004. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on March 19, 2014, the development and completion of the new aircraft with the maiden flight planned for 2015 and the entry into service slated for November 2016. The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) intended L-7 will provide basic training starting by the end of 2016 or later.

The Hongdu Aviation Industry Group (HAIC) has built six L-7 prototypes with the first airplane showcased at the Zhuhai air show in November 2010 but no maiden flight has been reported yet. The PLAAF may accept the L-7 basic turboprop aircraft in the 2016-2018 timeframe.
