Description: The Shahed-129, 'Witness-129' in English, is a turboprop-powered reconnaissance and strike unmanned air vehicle (UAV) developed by Iran under its weapons program started in 1992 as a response to the United States arms embargo. The Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claims that the new aircraft is the most sophisticated drone produced by Iran so far. Serving as a surveillance asset it can cover an area of 200 kilometers. In addition, the Shahed-129 features a range of 1,700 kilometers for 24 hours enabling it to reach much of the Middle East, including Israel. The weapon options include up to eight air-to-surface missiles or bombs to engage both moving and stationary targets. The Shahed-129 was unveiled in Tehran by the IRGC on September 27, 2013.
