Description: The Russian Air Force Su-57, designation officially announced on 11 August 2017, is a fifth generation, stealth fighter aircraft developed in the basis of the T-50 prototypes. The initial version will be powered by two AL-41F1 engines which are basically a more powerful version of the 117S engine with some stealth characteristics. After 2020, the production Su-50s will be powered by a new engine still being under development that will increase the aircraft's performance including flight altitude, range and supercruise speed. The first production Sukhoi Su-57 aircraft is intended to complete its maiden flight in 2016 and achieve initial operational capability (IOC) with the Russian Air Force in 2017.
The Su-57 avionics consist of the Sh121 multifunctional integrated radio electronic system (MIRES) and the 101KS Atoll electro-optical (EO) system. MIRES combines the N036 Byelka radar system and the L402 Himalayas electronic countermeasures suite. The EO system comprises the 101KS-O laser-based jamming against infrared missiles, OLS-50M Infrared Search and Track (IRST), 101KS-U ultraviolet warning sensors against incoming missiles, and 101KS-N fuselage integrated navigation and targeting system. A full spectrum of air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles as well as guided bombs will be carried inside two internal weapons bays. The Su-50 will be able to launch the K-77M advanced medium range air-to-air missile, RVV-SD long-range air-to-air missile and RVV-MD short-range air-to-air missile. The weapon options also include the Kh-31PD long-range anti-radiation missiles as well as the Kh-38 standoff weapons family.
