Description:
MD 600 is an eight-place, light, single-engine helicopter fitted with NOTAR (No Tail Rotor) technology. MD-600 provides low operating costs and enhanced performance. It is faster, quieter, safest than many other helicopters of its class. MD-600 is available for both civil and military applications. It is suitable for utility, medical evacuation, VIP transport, law enforcement, and aerial tours. MD Helicopters MD-600N is the current production model.
MD-600 is powered by a single Rolls Royce Allison 250-C47M turboshaft engine rated at 530-shp which drives a six-bladed main rotor. The NOTAR system replacing the tail rotor consists of an enclosed variable-pitch fan driven by the main transmission. A circulation control tailboom which ends at a direct jet thruster coupled with tail vertical stabilizers match the tail rotor effect allowing the directional flight of the aircraft while balancing the main rotor's torque effect. In addition, NOTAR results safer than tail rotor which is the cause for many helicopter crashes.
