Description: The German Navy's Gepard-class missile boats (Type 143A) are an evolution of Albatros-class (Type 143) commissioned in 1976 and 1977. The Gepard-class ships have been designed to perform anti-surface warfare (ASuW) utilizing four MM38 Exocet anti-ship missiles and a 76mm OTO dual-purpose gun. A 21-cell RAM provides protection against airborne threats. Besides, the Gepard-class corvettes are suitable for mine laying missions. The propulsion system consists of four diesels and four shafts generating 13,200-KW and allowing a top speed of 40 knots. These ships are scheduled for replacement by the K130-class corvettes.
