Description:
The Japan Marine Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Yubari is a class of escort corvettes, destroyers for MSDF, with limited anti-submarine (ASW) and anti-surface warfare (ASuW) capabilities. Its propulsion system combines a cruise diesel engine with a boost gas turbine developing 22,500-shp of power and enabling a top speed of 25 knots. The weapon system consists of a 76mm dual purpose gun, eight Harpoon anti-ship missiles, a Bofors ASW rocket launcher and two triple 12.75-in torpedo tubes. MSDF commissioned two ships in 1983 and 1984.
