Description: The 53T6, also known as SH-08 Gazelle or ABM-3, is a two-stage solid fuel missile with a range of 100 kilometers and a nuclear warhead of 10 Kilotons. The missile is deployed and launched from underground silo. The 53T6 interceptor is intended to kill incoming ballistic missiles at high altitudes but still inside the atmosphere (endo-atmospheric). The missile was first deployed in the 1980s within the A-135 anti-ballistic missile (ABM) defense system in Moscow. After the collapse of the Soviet Union the A-135 missile system was put offline. As of November 2014 the system was back operational with interceptors being tested. As of early 2018 the Russian Armed Forces were testing the more effective PRS-1M as the replacement for the 53T6 interceptor.
