Description: The ALFO is a lightweight, modular fiber optic weapon based on technologies and knowledge developed under the Polyphem program to achieve an indirect fire weapon with accuracy typically owned by direct fire weapon systems. It is specially suited for destruction of small targets located at ranges of up to 13 kilometers. The fiber optic communications data link allows continuously communication between the launch unit and ALFO missile minimizing collateral damage, optimizing weapon's accuracy and providing immediate battle damage assessment as well as image-based evidence to counter misinformation.

The ALFO missile has been designed to be fired from 81mm and 120mm mortars performing a maneuverable, non-ballistic trajectory allowing mortar units to escape counter-battery radars location. This weapon system also incorporates COTS technology to reduce overall costs. Its modular design enables use by both dismounted infantry units or armored mortar carrier units. The ALFO uses an Inertial Navigation System, GPS, an imagery CCD-TV sensor and a fiber optic data link to precisely navigate through its target. In addition, ALFO overall characteristics make it exceptionally suitable for urban areas combat scenarios.

The ALFO 120 is a 120mm mortar projectile intented to hit targets at ranges of up to 13 kilometers.
