Description: The Astra Mk-2 is an advanced version of the Astra Mk-1 missile with an estimated range in excess of 100 kilometers. As of September 2017, India was already working on the Astra Mk-2 expected to arm the Tejas fighter aircraft in the 2020s. The missile features a new Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) to achieve longer ranges than conventional air-to-air missiles. The first test firing of Astra Mk-2 was carried out on May 31, 2018.
