Description: The Basir is a smart laser-guided artillery projectile developed by Iran. It is intended to hit moving and stationary targets at ranges of up to 20 kilometers such as tanks, military vehicles and bridges. According to the Iranian Minister of Defense the Basir is also capable of locating and identify targets autonomously which makes it fall into the category of smart munitions. The existence of Basir artillery projectile was made public in late January 2012.
