The FAB-500 bomb features a single nose fuze and a low drag, streamlined design. The former Soviet Union introduced the first models of the modern FAB-500 bomb in 1962. Since then this kind of unguided bomb has been employed in a variety of conflicts. It was employed during the Russian Air Force campaign in Syria in 2016 and 2017 with outstanding results being released by the Su-24M bombers with one meter circular error probable (CEP) thanks to the SVP-24 targeting module.
