Description: The KAB-500L is a 500 kg, Semi-Active Laser-guided bomb designed for the latest generation Russian-made aircraft. It is the Russian counterpart to proven Paveway bombs. Once released, the pilot or a third party must aim at the target with a laser designator in order to successfully direct the KAB bomb.

The KAB-500L bombs were deployed successfully during the Russian military campaign in Chechnya. Usually SU-24 Fencer and MiG-27 Flogger aircraft use this type of weapon in strike missions.
