Description: The Indian Army Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile (MPATGM) is a third generation anti-tank missile fitted with a High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead. The missile uses a top-attack profile to engage tanks where its armor is less thick and therefore maximizing kill probability. The MPATGM is powered by a rocket motor which allows a maximum range of 2,500 meters. Overall, it seems the Indian counterpart to the US Army Javelin missile system. The new weapon system was first test fired in September 2018 and is expected to enter service by 2021. The Indian Army may procure up to 40,000 missile rounds over the next 20 years through 2040.
