Description: The Metis-M1 represents the third generation of the Metis man-portable, subsonic, anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) family developed by the former Soviet Union in the late 1970s. It is intended to hit modern armored targets, fortifications and small-sized targets at ranges between 80 and 2,000 meters which represents a considerable increase compared with the Metis (up to 1,000 meters) and Metis-M (up to 1,500 meters). The missile system has been designed to operate day/night in all weather conditions. The system is compact and lightweight and can be carried by a crew of three infantrymen including launcher + missile pack (23.8 kg), thermal imaging sight pack (9 kg) and two missile rounds pack (28.6 kg). The Metis-M1 tandem shaped warhead has been designed to defeat target's protected by Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) with the second warhead piercing 900-to-950 mm thick of reinforced armor. The guidance system consists of semi-automatic with command transmitting via wire link. The Russian Army introduced the Metis-M1 missile system in the 2010-2012 timeframe. It is intended for dismounted infantrymen, motorized units and paratroopers.
