Description: The United States (US) Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) is a program aimed at delivering a new missile interceptor for the Ground Missile Defense (GMD) system by 2030. The NGI is the successor for the cancelled Redesigned Kill Vehicle (RKV). The NGI is expected to deal with new generation threats such as hypersonic cruise missiles. The program was launched in April 2020 and is expected to select the contractors in July 2020 with the aim of down selecting only two contractors in the near future.
