Description: The Russian Air Force A-235 Nudol is an anti-satellite missile developed to take out navigation and communications satellites. The missile is released by a heavy interceptor such as the Mig-31 and then the missile starts a direct ascent path to low Earth orbit. Anti-satellite missiles could cripple US intelligence, navigation, and communications capabilities that are critical for both military operations and civilian infrastructure. The Nudol strategic space warfare weapon was first tested successfully on November 18, 2015. Recent reports suggest that the Nudol missile might be deployed by a mobile ground-based anti-satellite weapon system indentified as A-235, OKR Samolet-M or RTTs-181M. The new mobile ground system may feature three interceptors to engage space targets at long, intermediate and short ranges. The system will be provided with a data-link with Voronezh and other strategic radar systems to engage space targets.
