Description: The R-3, also referred to as the AA-2 Atoll, is an infrared-guided, short-range air-to-air missile based upon an AIM-9 Sidewinder missile recovered by the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union also developed a version using semi-active radar seeker. PL-2, PL-3 and PL-5 are versions of the R-3 missile produced in China. Romania also produced the R-3 under license as the A-91. The R-3 missile was integrated onto Mig-21, Su-7 and Su-25 aircraft.
