Description: The F118 was developed utilizing the same core design of the F101 engine. The F118 has different fan and afterburner packages to tailor engine performance compared with the F101.

The F118-GE-101 has been designed to re-engine the U-2R high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft, U-2R with -101 engines are designated U-2S. The -101 engine increases U-2's ceiling, range, safety and ease of flight.
