Description: There is no much information disclosed about the CG(X) battlecruiser program. It seems to be the DD(X) follow-on with and increased firepower and displacement. The CG(X) will be provided with the same advanced technology related to the DD(X) destroyer. It will feature an improved radar system evolved from the radar system associated to the DD(X) destroyer. This radar system will provide significant ballistic missile defense capability.

The CG(X) cruisers would replace existing Ticonderoga-class cruisers beginning in the 2020-2030 timeframe.
