Its propulsion system combines a cruise and boost gas turbines developing 45,000-shp of power and enabling a top speed of 30 knots. Hatsuyuki features an aft flight deck and hangar allowing operation of a single SH-60J helicopter. The weapon system consists of a 76mm dual purpose gun, two 20mm Phalanx guns, eight Harpoon anti-ship missiles, ASROC rockets, one eight-cell Sea Sparrow surface-to-air missile system with 18 missiles, and two triple 12.75-in torpedo tubes.
