Description: The Hudong class of fast missile boats were built by China in the 1990s for the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the Chinese Huangfen and Soviet Osa fast missile boat design. These ships are armed with four C-801/YJ-1 anti-ship missiles and a dual 30mm anti-aircraft gun. The 200-ton class vessel propulsion system features three diesel engines developing 8,000-bhp of power and a top speed of 35 knots. Iran's Revolutionary Guard commissioned 10 Hudong-class fast missile boats in 1994 and 1996. In the event of a military conflict in the Persian Gulf these boats could be instrumental closing down the strait of Hormuz or carrying out missile attack against enemy warships.
