Description: The Kralj, King in English, is a class of missile boats designed by the former Yugoslavia in the 1980s but completed and commissioned by the Croatian Navy beginning in 1992. The propulsion system is based upon three diesel engines in a Combined Diesel and Diesel (CODAD) arrangement. Each vessel can achieve a top speed of 36 knots and cruise 1,700 nautical miles at a cruise speed of 18 knots. The weapon system of these vessels consists of 4 to 8 RBS15 anti-ship missiles, one 57mm gun and one AK-630 close-in weapon system (CIWS) providing limited self-defense capability against airborne threats. The 400-ton class Kralj missile boats have been designed to perform anti-surface warfare (ASuW) missions in the littoral environment. The Croatian Navy commissioned two Kraj missile boats in 1992 and 2002 which are expected to remain in active duty beyond 2020.
