Description: The Project 11541 Korsar is a frigate designed to engage and destroy surface and underwater ships as well as airborne threats. Moreover, this ship can perform escort and patrol tasks in sea and oceanic areas. The hull is divided into 13 compartments and the habitability has been enhanced compared to previous Russian-made patrol ships. The ship's radar, acoustic and infrared signatures have been reduced to achieve enhanced survivability.
The ship propulsion system is based on Combined Gas and Gas (GOGAG) concept with a two-shaft gas-turbine plant with fixed-pitch propellers. Each gas turbine develops 21,000-hp of power. The patrol ship achieves a top speed of 30 knots, a cruise speed of 18 knots and an economical speed of 14 knots. Electric power is supplied by five diesel generators. The primary ship sensors are Fregat MAE-3 air/surface surveillance radar and Zarya-ME hull-mounted sonar system with towed arrays. A flight deck and hangar allow operation of one Ka-28 or Ka-31 helicopter.
For anti-surface warfare (ASuW) engagements the ship can mount alternatively the following weapon systems: 16 4x4 Uran anti-ship cruise missiles; 12 2x6 Yakhont supersonic missiles; 8 1x8 Kalibr-NKE missiles with below-deck vertical launcher; or 8 2x4 3M80/Moskit supersonic missiles. The anti-submarine weapons include six-single tube torpedo/missile launchers and one RBU-6000 12-tube mortar as well as 100mm AK-190 multi-purpose naval gun. Air defense is provided by one Klinok short-range air defense system with 32 9M331 missiles and two Kashtan close-in weapon systems with 64 9M311-1 missiles that may be replaced by two Palma gun/missile systems.
