Description: The Brazilian Navy Sao Paulo aircraft carrier is an upgraded ex-French Navy Clemenceau-class ship built in 1963 and transferred to Brazil in November 2000 after being decommissioned by the French Navy. The ship is equipped with up to 39 A-4 Skyhawk jets and rotary wing aircraft operating from the angled flight deck and using two catapults. The A12 Sao Paulo was commissioned in 2001. Her primary mission is to protect the Atlantic coast of Brazil and its oil resources.
