Description: The Brazilian Navy Tamandare class corvette is a new surface fighting ship equipped with state-of-the-art weapon systems and sensors such as the Sea Ceptor local area air defense system. BAE Systems announced that the Sea Ceptor missile system was selected for the Tamandare-class corvette on November 28, 2014. The Brazilian Navy may commission the lead ship of the new class by 2022-2024 with the remaining to be delivered by 2028. The Brazilian Navy selected ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, Embraer and Atech (Aguas Azuis Consortium) as preferred bidders for the Tamandare class corvettes in March 2019.
