Description: The MTS, MTC in Cyrillic, is a multi-purpose transport aircraft being developed by Ilyushin Aviation Complex for the freight market. The aircraft will be powered by two high-by-pass ratio 23,000-pound class turbofan engines on underwing pylons from Russian or Western suppliers. The basic MTS will be be capable of carrying a cargo of 18.5 tons over a distance of 2,500 kilometers. Ilyushin claims that its airplane will be able to operate from unprepared airfields under a wide spectrum of climate, at day or night conditions.
