Description: The Pilatus PC-6, also known as Pilatus Porter, is a single-engine short takeoff and landing (STOL) utility transport aircraft outstanding by its low maintenance and operating costs. The PC-6 is suitable for paradropping, liaison, towing, firefighting, reconnaissance, ambulance and light transport missions. The aircraft flew for the first time on May 4, 1959, and the first production aircraft was delivered in 1960. The PC-6 Porter and Turbo-Porter are renowned by their excellent STOL performance and low-speed handling characteristics which allow them to operate from unprepared airfields.

Originally, the PC-6 Porter was powered by six-cylinder Lycoming GSO-480 piston engine which was replaced in 1961 by Turbomeca 523-shp Astazou turboprop in the PC-6/A version. The PC-6/C powered by 575-shp TPE331 engine was introduced in 1965. The majority of existing PC-6 belong to the PC-6/B model which is powered by Pratt & Whitney PT6A-27 turboprop rated at 550-shp. Equipped with floats the PC-6 can perform as an amphibious aircraft or equipped with skis allowing for operation on snowfields.
