Hailstorm

Origin
Germany

Contractor/s
Rheinmetall Defence

Description: The Hailstorm is a stand-off mine disposal system designed to be operated by a conventional stationary armored vehicle from a distance of 100 meters. The system consists of a catapult which launches a guided projectile that impacts vertically over the target.

The Hailstorm is able to neutralize mines, bombs, and dud shells buried up to 30 cm deep in the soil thanks to a pre-charge that detonates over the ground with a second shaped charge penetrating into the soil to destroy the threat.

The Hailstorm mine disposal device competes with other systems to be integrated into US Army FCS systems.
