Description: The M230 Chain Gun is an automatic lightweight cannon capable of firing rates of 625 rounds per minute. The M230 cannons have been installed on the AH-64A and AH-64D Apache combat helicopters. It is suitable against light armored vehicles and dismounted infantry at maximum ranges of 4,000 meters.

The M230 cannon fires 30mm LW30 HEDP (High Explosive, Dual Purpose) ammunition produced by ATK to defeat both light armor vehicles and tanks. To date, more than 1,000 M230 guns have been delivered to Apache customers in 11 countries worldwide.
