Description: The General Dynamics Mk 19 is an air-cooled 40mm grenade machine gun in service within the US Army. It is a man-portable weapon system capable of firing up to 400-grenade per minute and can be installed on a wide variety of vehicles and ground platforms. The weapon is able to take out targets ranging from armored vehicles to dismounted troops.

General Dynamics Armaments and Technical Products was awarded a $15 million contract for procurement of 1,097 MK 19 weapon systems on 10 October 2005. Grenade machine gun deliveries to the US Army were expected to commence in June 2006.

On 27 September 2006, US Army TACOM-ARDEC awarded General Dynamics a $44 million contract for the supply of Mk 19 grenade machine guns from January 2007 through December 2008. Including this order, General Dynamics has produced more than 33,000 MK 19s for the United States and its allies.
