Description:
AN/ALQ-144 is an infrared jammer intended to provide protection against infrared-guided missiles. It is suitable for rotary-wing aircraft applications such as AH-1F Cobra, AH-64 Apache, SH-2F/G Seasprite, SH-3 Sea King, VH-3D, SH-60B Sea Hawk, MH-60R/S, HH-60, UH-60B and VH-60N helicopters. US Navy's MH-60R and MH-60S helicopters, which represent the latest ALQ-144 application, are equipped with the AN/ALQ-144A(V)5 and (V)6 models respectively.
In April 2006 BAE Systems was awarded a $10.4 million contract to provide 31 AN/ALQ-114A(V)5 countermeasures system for Canada's CH-148 Cyclone helicopter. These countermeasures systems are meant to protect CH-148s from infrared guided surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles. The contract was awarded by General Dynamics Canada which takes care of the ALQ-144s integration into Cyclones.
