Description: The Ivchenko-Progress D-136 is a turboshaft engine derived from the D-36 turbine to power the massive Mi-26 and Mi-26T 'Halo' twin-engine heavy transport helicopters. A single D-136 engine develops 11,400-hp of power at the takeoff. In addition to the high power output, the D-136 turboshaft was designed to provide low specific fuel consumption. Engine development began in 1977 and series production at the Motor Sich plant started in 1982. The engine design consists of 10 line replaceable modules excepting the main module which is not replaceable. Five gas generator modules are identical to those in the D-36 engine.
