Description:
The PW200 engine family produced by Pratt & Whitney Canada builds on PT6 engine experience to deliver a highly reliable turbine featuring low fuel consumption for the next generation of helicopters. This engine family provides power ranging from 621 through 710 shaft horsepower (shp) with new models yielding 950-shp already under development. The engine also incorporates lightweight materials and a compact architecture to enhance the PW200 performance.
PW200 series engines require little maintenance and scheduled maintenance is only required at 600 hours or one-year intervals. The engine line replaceable units can be accessed easily facilitating repair operations. It comprises a power section designed for rugged operations that drives a front-mounted combined reduction and accessory gearbox. PW200 includes Electronic Engine Control (EEC) comprising a Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) with a mechanical backup ensuring accurate control of the engine performance to changes in power demand. EEC sub-system can communicate with ground-based computers for engine monitoring and by the way reduces pilot's workload.
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PW210 is a new turboshaft engine designed for application onto rotary wing aircraft. The PW210S model will be powering the Sikorsky S-76D helicopter beginning in 2008.
