Description:
The AN/AQS-13F is a variable depth sonar deployed aboard the United States Navy's SH-60F helicopters. This dipping sonar detects and tracks enemy submarines while submerged. The sonar system is deployed on a 1,575 foot (480 meters) cable with the helicopter hovering at 60-ft (18 meters) of altitude above the ocean's surface.
