Description:
The AN/AQS-14 is a high speed helicopter mine hunting system. It was deployed in the Gulf of Suez in 1984, Persian Gulf in 1987, and during operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990 and 1991.
The existing AQS-14 are being upgraded to the Mod A configuration with smaller avionics in order to be installed in the H60 helicopter series. The AQS-14A adds a laser mine identification capability to the sonar and provides 4 times improved sonar resolution.
