Description: The Advanced Radar Periscope Detection and Discrimination System (ARPDDS) is being developed by Lockheed Martin to fit into the US Navy's MH-60R helicopter. The new sensor will allow ASW helicopters to effectively detect a submarine through its radar periscope while the boat is submerged. The US Navy awarded a $144 million modification contract to Lockheed Martin on June 26, 2008, for the design, development, integration and test through September 2013.
