EL/M-2022
EL/M-2022A
Origin:Israel
Contractor/s:
Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI)
Description:
IAI/Elta EL/M-2022A is a multimode airborne maritime surveillance radar incorporating SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) and ISAR (Inverse SAR) 3D technology and expertise gained by operational missions conduced by the Israeli Armed Forces in realistic scenarios. EL/M-2022A can be deployed on maritime surveillance aircraft in support of ASW/ASuW, Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) patrol, drug smuggling, coast guard and fisheries patrol, and search and rescue missions. The radar's modular architecture allows for integration onto both rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft including UAVs. It shares a high degree of commonality with Elta's EL/M-2032 fire control radar. Excluding the operator's console the EL/M-2022A hardware weighs less than 100 kg.
Coinciding with Asian Aerospace 2006 exhibition IAI made public that it was awarded two contracts worth $37 to integrate the EL/M-2022A surveillance radar onto the P-3 aircraft. These contracts were awarded by two undisclosed customers which were upgrading their P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft. The radar sets were tailored to fit to the aircraft's nose and tail. One forward looking antenna provides 240 degree coverage and two additional antennas provide 360 degree full coverage.
