Description:
The GOES-520 is a gyro-stabilized sighting system intended to provide situational awareness and targeting for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft as well as unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). The GOES-520 sighting system provides laser rangefinder and target designation of ground targets in all weather conditions day/night. The information gathered by this sensor system is provided to the aircraft's pilot through multi-function displays (MFDs).
The GOES-520 consists of an infrared sensor, laser rangefinder, daytime/low light TV, and missile guidance device. This lightweight and compact sighting system, weighing 45 kg, provides a viewing angles of +/-180 degrees in azimuth and -85/+35 degrees in elevation while operating at +/-50 Celsius degrees.
