Toplite

Origin:Israel

Contractor/s: Rafael

Description: The Toplite is a stabilized multi-role multi-sensor optronic payload evolved from Litening tactical aircraft targeting pod developed by Rafael. It comprises a third generation infrared camera (FLIR), a CCD-TV, eye safe laser rangefinder, laser designator as optional and an advanced correlation tracker. The system fits well into rotary-wing aircraft, fixed-wing aircraft and naval platforms performing naval, air or ground surveillance and targeting.

This device was designed for operation in day/night and adverse weather conditions in support of law enforcement, observation, surveillance and fire control of precision guided weapons. Its small size allows to easily integrated this payload in a wide variety of platforms. Ease of operation and maintenance also helps a lot for many customers ranging from military to civil operators.

The Toplite optronic payload has been ordered by the US Navy, the Israeli Navy and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN). In early July 2005, the Toplite targeting and surveillance system along with the Typhoon naval gun system entered service aboard the RAN Armidale-class patrol boats.
