Description: The ASMP (Air-Sol Moyenne Portee) is a supersonic, medium range, air-to-surface missile armed with a tactical nuclear warhead and powered by a liquid-propellant ramjet. It is guided by an autonomous and accurate Inertial Navigation System (INS).

The ASMP missile has a solid propellant booster which achieves the velocity required to ignite the liquid-propellant ramjet. This impressive missile, also classified as a cruise missile, flies at Mach 2 at low altitude and Mach 3 at high altitude. It can hit targets located at a maximum range of 300 km released from high altitude and 100 km released from low altitude.

The ASMP missile was deployed in 1986 on the Mirage IVP and in 1988 on Mirage 2000N. Afterwards it was adopted by the carrier-based Super Etendard aircraft. The ASMP missile is one of the keys of the French Nuclear Deterrence Forces.
