Description: Chieftain was developed to serve the British Army as a replacement for Centurion Main Battle Tank (MBT). It was equipped with a L11A5 120mm rifled cannon as primary armament backed up with two 7.62mm machine guns or one .50 caliber gun replacing one 7.62mm machine gun. Chieftain is powered by a single 750-hp diesel engine and features an improved sight system over Centurion. In the 1980s, Challenger replaced Chieftain in the British Army.

More than 900 Chieftains were produced for the British Army. It was exported to Iran, Kuwait and Jordan.
