Description: The KFMBT is a Main Battle Tank (MBT) designed to meet future requirements of the South Korean Army replacing eventually current MBTs in service with the Korean Army. The new MBT is still in early stage of development. According to Hyundai sources, it will be powered by a compact 1,500-hp engine and armed with a 120mm 55 calibers gun with and auto-loading system. A target auto-tracking system, electric gun and turret drive system, fully compatibility with digitized battlefield, advanced armor, and warning systems for improved survivability are planned for the new Korean MBT.

The KFMBT may achieve operational capability by 2010.
