Description: The BMP-3 is a tracked, NBC-protected, Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) designed to transport infantry troops protected under armor and to engage on the move enemy troops, armored vehicles, low-flying helicopters, materiel and fortifications. The BMP-3 is the last member of Soviet BMP family of armored vehicles

The BMP-3 powerplant is located in the rear compartment, gunner and commander are located in the turret, the driver is in the front compartment with 2 infantry troops and the remaining infantry troops are accommodated in the rear compartment separated from the engine compartment by a bulkhead. Doors and hatches are located to allow quick mounting and dismounting the vehicle. Its hull is made of armored aluminum plates with spaced steel-aluminum in the frontal sector.

The BMP-3 features enhanced cross country mobility and a water jet propulsion system for amphibious operations. Its lightweight hull design enables BMP-3 to be airlifted easily by C-130 Hercules- or Antonov An-12-sized military tactical transport aircraft.

The Sprut-SD is a self-propelled anti-tank gun intended to engage Main Battle Tanks (MBT), fortifications, and provide fire support during assault operations. It was developed on the basis of the BMP-3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV). It features a stabilized, smoothbore 125mm 2A75 main gun equivalent to those installed in the Russian T-80 and T-90 MBTs. In addition, the 125mm gun is able to fire the Refleks laser beam riding anti-tank missile and one coaxial 7.62mm machine gun has been provided in the turret.

The Sprut-SD 125mm 2A75 gun automatic ammunition loader system ensures high rates of fire even loading the Refleks anti-tank missile. The 2A75 gun can also engage low/slow flying helicopters using the Refleks missile.
