Description: Soviet T-62 derived from T-55 Main Battle Tank (MBT) adding greater firepower utilizing a 155mm smoothbore gun as primary armament. It entered service in the early 1960s replacing T-55 as first line tank in the Soviet Army. It retains all design limitations from T-54/55 series. Production ceased in the mid-1970s. Like T-54/55 it was sold to international customers. T-62 was replaced in the 1970s and 1980s by T-72 and T-80 MBTs.
