Description: The T-80 is a Main Battle Tank (MBT) designed to engage enemy armored vehicles, troops, fortifications and low-flying helicopters in day/night and all-weather conditions. Its advanced fire control system jointly with the 125mm smoothbore main gun ensure target kill with the first-round while the T-80 is on the move or stationary.

The T-80UD MBT features a 1,000-hp diesel engine, a 125mm 2A46M-1 smoothbore main gun capable of launching a wide variety of tank ammunition as well as anti-tank missiles, a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun, and a 12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun. The 2A46M-1 gun features an autoloader system which allows the T-80 to be operated by a crew of 3. That gun provided a rate of fire of 7-9 rounds per minute.

To achieve improved survivability over preceding Soviet MBTs, the T-80 features multi-layer armor with integrated Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) providing direct-hit and top-attack weapons protection. Low acoustic, visual, radar, and visual signatures also provide improved survivability to the T-80 MBT.

The T-80UD is available for export featuring a diesel-engine instead of a gas turbine. T-80UD MBTs were purchased by Pakistan through Ukraine.
